  3. Accesses is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  4. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  5. friends, and copy to bulletin boards, but do not give it away
  6. altered.

  8. You must read "Product Disclaimer & Registration Form" in
  9. ACCESSES.HLP to  be aware of the Disclaimer and to learn how to
  10. TEMPORARILY REGISTER ACCESSES TO AVOID THE NAG Windows!

  18. Please don't try to break the registration code.  At $29
  19. Accesses is dirt cheap, especially if you knew how much work
  20. went into the development.

  22. Everyone should read CHANGES.TXT.  CHANGES.TXT covers many user
  23. requested additions to Accesses that are "special features" and
  24. are sometimes not documented in ACCESSES.HLP.

  26. Registrations will receive a Windows Write format of the
  27. Accesses help file.

  29. A special version of ACCESSES is compiled for Windows 3.0.
  30. The Windows 3.0 version of Accesses is AC030a.ZIP (or ACCES0.ZIP)
  31. and contains only the executable ACCESSES.EXE compiled for Windows
  32. 3.0 and will work in Win 3.1 but without DRAG DROP or Font changes.

  34. Some boards do not allow version numbers in the filenames; therefore,
  35. ACC30a.ZIP will be called ACCESS.ZIP for the Windows 3.1 version and
  36. AC030a.ZIP will be called or ACCES0.ZIP for the Windows 3.0 version.

  38. The AC030a.ZIP (or ACCES0.ZIP) file contains ONLY the following
  39. programs:

  41.     ACCESSES.EXE    The main program for Windows 3.0.

  47.     programs and Text.

  49. The ACC30a.ZIP (or ACCESS.ZIP) file contains the complete Windows 3.1
  50. program files:

  52.     ACCESSES.EXE    The main program for Windows 3.1.

  54.     ACCESSES.HLP    The help file in Windows HELP format,
  55.             Windows 3.0 and 3.1 compatible.

  61.     NORTON.TXT    An important note to Norton Desktop

  64.     CHANGES.TXT    Required reading for previous Accesses
  65.             version users. VERY INTERESTING
  66.             READING FOR OTHERS!

  68.     ACCDRIVE.EXE    Tiny pop-up that displays the free
  69.             drive space. Accesses must be running
  70.             before this program will operate since
  71.             Accesses provides "the engine" to run the
  72.             pop-up. The pop-up is a "bare bones"
  73.             program and will NOT operate without
  74.             Accesses! (for Windows 3.0 and 3.1)
  75.  
  76.     DAYALARM.EXE    Tiny Calendar, daily alarm, and
  77.             date calculator.  This program uses
  78.             the ACCESSES.INI file for initialization
  79.             data.  The program was developed to
  80.             use less than 1% of your system
  81.             resources so it can be on your computer
  82.             all of the time.  This program can be
  83.             launched without Accesses after Accesses
  84.             has built the INI file. (for Windows 3.0
  85.             and 3.1)

  87.     BULLETIN.TXT    Recommends the text to use when uploading
  88.             the ZIP files to bulletin boards.
  89.  
  90.     ACCESSES.WRI    An abbreviated Windows write Technical
  91.             document.  Also contains the Tutor.
  92.  
  93. You MUST Place ACCESSES.EXE and ACCESSES.HLP in the same 
  94. directory as the TASKMAN.EXE windows program. You must have 
  95. ACCESSES.HLP installed for the installation to work properly. After
  96. about a week, you can delete Accesses.hlp if you are short on disk
  97. space.  Decompress ACCESSES.WRI to use/print the TUTOR.

  99. Accesses creates ACCESSES.INI when Accesses is 1st started & if an 
  100. ACCESSES.INI doesn't already exist.  Accesses automatically updates
  101. older version ACCESSES.INI files.
  102.  
  103. REMEMBER TWO IMPORTANT ITEMS FOR ACCESSES:
  104.  
  105. 1.   FILE EXTENSIONS ARE PREFERRED but not required
  106.  
  107. 2.   You MUST go thru the TUTOR in ACCESSES.WRI.
  108.  
  109. To Norton Desktop USERS:  READ NORTON.TXT.
  110.  
  111. Follow these steps BEFORE LAUNCHING ACCESSES for the 1st time...
  112.  
  113. During the installation process you will automatically be storing 
  114. currently opened window positions to your ACCESSES.INI file.  All
  115. of this can be easily edited by Accesses later but it helps to
  116. do some now.  DON'T WORK TOO HARD AT THIS!  You can easily modify
  117. the setup from Accesses later!
  118.  
  119. 1.   Make a backup copy of your SYSTEM.INI file NOW.  I will ask
  120. you if I can add taskman.exe=accesses.exe to your SYSTEM.INI file
  121. during the installation. (This change is not required but strongly
  122. recommended.
  123.  
  124. 2.   open one copy each of 5 or 6 of your most frequently 
  125. used programs before running ACCESSES.  If you're running
  126. windows in the Enhanced (386) Mode, open a DOS window as well and
  127. place the DOS window where you want it to be placed.
  128.  
  129. If you are running Norton Desktop, restore (not maximized and
  130. not minimized) the folders and drive windows of Norton.
  131.  
  132. 3.   For now, Close or minimize duplicate programs. For example,
  133. Run only one 'Notepad'.
  134.  
  135. 4.   Move these programs to the window positions that you 
  136. want them to normally be in when in the 'Restored' (not maximized 
  137. and not minimized) positions. USE THE RESTORED POSITION for all 
  138. of these WINDOWS.  Tutor explains how to change any or all of
  139. these positions if you want to make changes later - it's easy.

  141. 3.   Then launch ACCESSES for the 1st time.
  142.

  192. FOREIGN REGISTRATIONS:
  193. Users registering from outside the USA should include an extra
  194. $2 US ($1 US from Canada) to cover the return postage.  If you are
  195. requesting a current copy of Accesses or Archives, include $5 US
  196. and a note stating the name of the bulletin board where you will be
  197. uploading the current version of Accesses or Archives.
